For the past seven years, CompuBet has been developing the most accurate harness horse ratings ever produced. This is the result of countless statistical studies, during which we have learned what aspects of racing and handicapping are most important. We often get questions from customers concerning our products and services. You can use our Feedback Form to ask any questions you may have. Below are a some questions and the answers we have provided.

Q. How do you arrive at your new Predictability Index Values?

A. Take a look at our "Users Guide" for a complete explanation. Or you can click here for a quick summary.

Q. I'm having problems printing the reports and news articles on your site. Every time I try to print, I get the menu not the information I want to print. What am I doing wrong?

A. The CompuBet website is seperated into two different "frames." On the left hand side of the screen is the menu bar and on the right is the information which you would like to view/print. When you select a menu item you are "activating" the left hand frame. In order to print what is on the right hand side (the report or news article), you must activate the right hand frame. This can be accomplished by simply clicking on the right side of the screen. Now, when you print you will print the information you want instead of the menu.

Q. When I try to print the "Betting Patterns" Reports, I only get part of the report on a piece of paper. Is there any way to get the entire report onto a single page?

A. Yes. First of all you should make sure your Browser has the proper "font" settings. Too large a font (print size) will cause wrapping of the text (which pushes some of the data to another line) and inability to print the entire document. In Internet Explorer, you can change the Font size by clicking on the "A" icon on the "tool bar" near the top of your Browser Window (it is located just above the Address Bar and has the word "font" just below the "A"). Each time you click on the "A" it will change the font size to the next largest size. Keep clicking and the font will continue to get larger and larger, and will then go back to the smallest size available. That is the size you should use when you want to print (you can view the documents in a larger font for clearer reading.....just change it before printing) Note: If you are using Netscape, you can change fonts by going to the main menu at the top of your screen, click on "options", select "general preferences", select "fonts", select "choose fonts" and then set the font size to "8". Be sure to click "OK" to save the settings (there are two places to click "OK"). Second, In order to print the entire "Betting Patterns" Report, you have to print using the "landscape" paper orientation. To do that, when you click "print", you should have a print window appear which gives you the opportunity to change the print "properties". Click on the button named "Properties" You will then be able to change the settings to "Landscape", click "OK" and then print your document. ALL of the other reports found on the CompuBet Web Site can be printed with the "Portrait" orientation setting.

Q. (Date: Friday, July 24, 1998 12:30 AM) I have had some success using your reports, but I am curious as to why you are not consistent of displaying the same harness tracks consistently, such as, Yonkers, Hoosier, and Pompano Pk.

A. Just so you know, we do every track for which there are entries. If the USTA does not post the entries we cannot do a report. Of course it doesn't hurt to ask because it is possible that we could overlook one sometimes (although I don't recall that happening) and we can always get it out in a matter of an hour or so. Anyway, all this will be changing soon. In a nutshell we will be getting our data directly from AXCIS within the next couple of months and we are assured of getting ALL the entries EVERY day! Wow, won't that be nice, we will be able to do literally EVERY track in the country.....then we plan to tackle Canada. Hang in there, you haven't even begun to see what we can do !

Q. When you have same driver listed more than once in the same race is it because you don't know what horse he's driving?

A. Yes we base our reports on the drivers reported to us by the USTA and sometimes these ARE NOT the final drivers. This can actually work to your advantage because by checking the official race program you will learn which horse a driver chooses. This quite often provides you with a "clue" as to which horse that particular driver thinks is the better horse. In any case, if you wish to make adjustments in these situations you simply have to subtract the "driver points" listed for the incorrect driver and add the "driver points" for the correct driver to the overall point total of the horse.

For example, if a horse has 429 points and is listed with Walter Case as the driver, and you find out that the actual driver is Ted Wing, you must subtract Case's points (49) from the total and add Wing's points (22) which results in a total of 402. Now that you have a new total, you may want to move the horse "up" or "down" in the ratings accordingly. Remember, the higher the points, the better the horse's chances.
